Drosera - kind of insectivorous plants, comprising about 150 species. It occurs on all continents, with the exception of Antarctica. Carnivorous plant Drosera as is active. The victim enters the leaf and sticky substance it locks. Slowly the trap closes. It takes about 3 hours. Excreted formic acid begins to dissolve the body of an insect. Thanks to the release of protein molecules. This results in separation of proteolytic enzymes. Soft body parts victims are digested, and both of them - liquid rich in nutrients, is absorbed by the plant. After digestion, the victims of a leaf is opened and the residues are usually blown by the wind. Re-opening occurs after 24 hours.

History

Environment

It occurs on all continents except Antarctica. Sundew grow on various soils, mostly acidic, sandy, stony and swampy. Catching insects compensate for deficiencies of nutrients in poor soils - especially assimilable nitrogen.

Disign

Lure their victims glittering drops of sweet liquid that is secreted at the top - feelers growing on surfaces leaves. Thanks to the anthocyanins, they are a reddish color enhancing their attractiveness.
